Ambitions are high as the ADNOC Pro League heads into Matchweek 3, with seven matches taking place over three days from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30.
The battle at the top is already taking shape, with five teams collecting maximum points from their opening two matches, while several others will be looking to respond quickly and get their campaigns back on track.
Matchweek 3 gets underway on Friday when United face Kalba at Al Maktoum Stadium at 17:55. United enter the match in eighth place with three points, while ninth-placed Kalba have one point and are still searching for their first victory of the season.
The spotlight will then turn to Zabeel Stadium at 20:30, where Al Wasl host Shabab Al Ahli in a highly anticipated Dubai Derby between the top two teams in the standings.
Both sides have collected six points from two victories, with Al Wasl leading on goal difference after scoring eight goals and conceding just once. Shabab Al Ahli have scored seven goals and also conceded only one.
Saturday’s action begins at 17:55, when Al Jazira host Ajman at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in another important encounter between two teams with perfect records. Both sides have collected six points after winning their opening two matches.
At the same time, Khorfakkan welcome Al Dhafra to Saqr Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Stadium, with both teams looking to collect their first points of the season. Al Dhafra enter the round in 13th place without a point, while Khorfakkan sit bottom of the table with a goal difference of -6.
Another major clash follows at 20:30, as Al Ain host Al Nasr at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. Al Ain sit third with six points after winning their opening two matches, while Al Nasr are sixth with four points following one victory and one draw.
The round concludes on Sunday with two matches. Hatta host Sharjah at Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Stadium at 17:55, with the hosts seeking their first points of the campaign, while Sharjah enter the match with three points in seventh place.
The final fixture of Matchweek 3 sees Al Wahda host Bani Yas at Al Nahyan Stadium at 20:30. Both teams are yet to collect a point, with Al Wahda entering the round in 10th place and Bani Yas in 11th, allowing both sides to kick-start their campaigns.
The race at the top remains tight ahead of Matchweek 3, with Al Wasl, Shabab Al Ahli, Al Ain, Al Jazira and Ajman all on six points. Al Nasr follow with four points, while Sharjah and United have three each.
Meanwhile, Kalba, Al Wahda, Bani Yas, Hatta, Al Dhafra and Khorfakkan will all be targeting positive results as they look to climb the standings, setting the stage for another competitive and unpredictable round of ADNOC Pro League action.
